GNOME has been said to be the best desktop with Orca, but I have found MATE to 
be more stable and reliable, with more customization features native to the 
environment without tweak tools and other things. It's also lighter weight, so 
it tends to run faster on more hardware. That said, it mostly comes down to 
personal preference, unless you have hardware or memory constraints. Most 
machines will run either just fine, so it depends on which interface you like 
better.
