And do you have a way to have messages read when you are not in the main teamTalk window? As it is the case in Pidgin. Sometimes messages are read, for example sometimes if I am in a
VMWare VM window. But it is randomness.

One thing you can do for check boxes is to tab to one, then use caps+l in laptop layout to hear the label. To use this in preferences after switching tabs, you'll need to quit and restart Orca again so that the flat review can be updated. Also, to hear announcements, it works best to place focus in the channel messages and event log area, then press ctrl+a to select all text. At this point, Orca should read the changes to the text 95% of the time, as it may occasionally miss the first announcement.
