Re: [orca-list] linux mint, mate

That's not entirely true, I've had (some) success spamiming orca --replace in a terminal to get Orca to stay on and install, though how long it takes before Orca stays on on my system varies, oddly enough. It always seems to stayon in the end however and do the install just fine for me though, constantly togging Orca or orca --replace seems to do it in a terminal for me.

Again, Orca for some reason will not work when booting from a USB
drive or DVD. It will simply turn on and off all the time like you're
experiencing.

Instead, you need to get someone with sight to go through the install
for you. Then boot from the hard drive, and ask them to go into start
menu and turn on screen reader, and you're all set.

From there, I just put a few launcher icons on my desktop such as
screen reader, Firefox, text editor and terminal. Then Orca will
probably still turn off on you once or twice a day, and just press
Ctrl+Alt+d, the Up arrow a bunch of times, the the down arrow the
number of times needed to get to the screen reader launcher icon.
Takes 5 seconds to turn back on, and again, only happens maybe once a
day.

From there Orca integrates perfectly with Linux Mint MATE, and lots of
programs including Firefox, text editor, terminal, LibreOffice suite,
and so on. Things like managing bluetooth devices, sound settings,
wifi networks and so on is no problem at all either.

On the orca list, I read someone is using linux mint, mate edition.
I just put linux mate in and am wanting to install it.
But orca says ‘screen-reader on”, screen-reader off’
How may I keep it from turning right back off?
