Btw Carlos Garnacho has prepared a merge request to mutter which appears to fix the issue for gnome 3.30 at least from my initial testing.
For Arch linux users: I'm not in front of my machine right now but if you are interested I can share my pkgbuild script in a hour or so.

Yes, that's the package that introduces the change, so it's not
necessary to downgrade everything, just gtk.
