Re: [orca-list] web browsers, was, orca crashing randomly?

I'm gonna put another vote for Seamonkey, it's stripped down, fully accesible all in one and it works (at least here) a lot quicker than Firefox does. Of course if you want to go text browsers, w3m, elinks, lynx and so on are there. There's also Waterfox, Palemoon, there's Chromium as well as Chrome, though I've had mixed results with Chrome and Palemoon. There's also Midori but that's clunky, and Empathy/Gnome Web which I never got on with

I never have Orca and ChromeVox talking at the same time. In Chrome, I hear only ChromeVox and outside of Chrome, I hear only Orca. I've never done anything special to set this up. I've never had any trouble with Orca and ChromeVox fighting over system resources. This is also true when I start Emacs with Emacspeak on the desktop. I never hear Orca and Emacspeak at the same time and they never seem to fight over resources. I'm not sure why this behaves differently on my systems from everyone else's, but I like it since I can just jump from application to application, and I get the screen reader I want without having to stop and restart Orca.

The advantage of doing this is you don't have two voices talking at the

I've never heard this. What's the advantage of doing this? I just start
Chrome, and I never turn off Orca. It doesn't seem to cause any issues for me, and when I alt+tab to another window, I still have Orca running just fine.

When you run chromevox, you're supposed to turn orca off and turn orca

Hello.
Changing the subject line here in hopes of getting additional answers.

Is there really no browser aside from firefox that works with orca?

Thanks.

I use Orca with Firefox just fine myself.

I'll also bring up Chrome with ChromeVox from time to time. It doesn't
work
with Orca though.

You could also try Seamonkey. I'm not sure if it would have the same
problem or not.

So what other browsers can i use?

Not familiar with what works and what doesn't work on linux yet.

Gonna chime in here and say I've noticed this too, more with resource heavy items on a slower/older system, but (mostly) ditching FF seems hopefully to have cured it. as has using the latest Orca from github.

Hi.

I'm pretty sure it is. It starts on boot anyway, It just seems to
randomly turn off at times.

Hi,

I do not use Mint but I think you have to check in Settings >

Hello all.

Recently i've started a new job where the operating system of choice is mint. The desktop gui is mate. So far i've been able to figure
out
most things but i do have one issue. If the screen reader falls behind or gets lost it just says screen reader off and turns off. To
relaunch it i have to run the orca command.

Anyone have any ideas where to look what the issue might be or what
i
can do to figure it out?

The mint version is 18.03 i think but not sure of the mate or orca
version.

Thanks.
