Re: [orca-list] abiword accessibility

Hello,

The patch cleanly merges with the trunk branch from abiword SVN.
The document view correctly exposes the text. It's perfectly readable with orca. It works fine, it's very responsive and say all does also work great.
There are a few more things I wish to be implemented as a follow up to this however since this is not merged and is sitting almost 10 years on their bugtracker I feel ashamed to demand more at this point.
Anyway just for the report text selection should get exposed in the future and some more roles such as links, headings and images. I don't know how much formatting does abiword support however that is also thing that will have to be looked t.

Greetings

Peter

Hi Mike,

What all problems have been solved with your patch?

Have you incorporated the missing atk classes in the software?

If it is a great deal or at least solving the navigation of text + getting attributes, then this is enough work already worth testing.

Wonder why the pach was not excepted.

Happy hacking.

Krishnakant.

Hello Mike,
Huh, what an awesome work.
I'll try building it if it still aplies cleanly.
If it is as great as it sounds I.d say we all should try to generate a bit of noyse.
If nothing else then we should get patched abiword into accessibility specific distros such as vinux or sonar.

Greetings and thanks

Peter

Hi Majid,

It's a known issue on the abiword side; its document window lacks an AtkText implementation, so orca won't be able to see the text.

I wrote a patch for it a while ago (https://bugzilla.abisource.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4736), but it hasn't been committed afaik.
