[orca-list] Opinions needed on viewing of my messages: Low vision users requested

Guys,

Any time that I get messages like I'm about to discuss, I take them very seriously.

There is a person on this list, and do not worry, I'm sure that he/she is reading this, so let me say up front, I'm not going to publicly call you out. This person will remain completely anonymous, however, the short story is, they wrote me privately off list twice and asked me to increase the font size of my e-mail messages.

They said that my e-mails always have very very small text, and that I need to, in their words almost verbatim, "unconfigure" my mail client.

Granted, I'm not sure what that implies me doing. I'm just using Outlook Express on this XP machine, but I've not changed a single setting regarding font, size, color, or anything. So, there's nothing to... "unconfigure" to start with.

I explained to this individual that though I mean this with all due respect, "I'm not going to tweak my e-mail client's settings just to please/satisfy one person."

I went on then to say, "If it were many people on the list writing me and complaining, then yes, obviously I'd then be more than happy to look into it more", but that isn't the case. This one person is the only one who has written me at all about this.

Right now, what you're seeing is normal formatted text, Ariel 12PT font, black text on a white background, (unless you've changed these settings to render differently on your end.)

My question is, for those low vision users who can see well enough to tell, does my e-mail look acceptable from the visual aspect? If not, I'll see what I can do to globally change it permanently on the client end, but yeah... I don't think it's fair for me to change anything like that for just one, and one only, individual, do you all?

Opinions? Feel free to write me off list privately, if you think that would be more acceptable. I just wanna be sure my messages are accessible to as many people as possible. I know I can't please everyone, but I'd like to at least please the majority.

Chris.
