Re: [orca-list] At last: I am a very! very! very! happy camper!

Hello,

A few years ago we were used to install notify-osd into mate to hear notifications. I am not sure if it's still needed today though as many things have changed since that time.

Greetings

Peter

Finally! finally! I got Mate to work consistently.

Well... OK, fine. Let's be fair here... 98% the time.

Alt+CTRL+Escape from the desktop now is working, and that thing about hitting applications key on the network icon? I'm not sure where my friend got that, as for me, enter is working just fine.

Now, it's not reading my notifications, but I kind a recall there was a package I need. It was something like notification-ocb, or something? So, that'll be the next step I'll take, is to look that up again, and get that installed.

I definitely got the system on my wifi though, and that works absolutely beautifully!

So, for those who've not tried  17.10, I get that it's only short term release, and that it's beta until tomorrow, but, trust me, it's worth you getting! This has seemed to fix all my issues so far. So, I'm not sure where my friend heard that 17.10 didn't work well with Orca. That couldn't, from what I'm observing be farther from the truth! From what I'm seeing, it's absolutely beautiful!

Now, obviously, I'm not gonna hold my breath, but...

Cross your fingers, or, meh, are you supersticious. LOL!

Chris.
