Hello,What I am going to say might already sound a bit confusing so if it does not make sense, either just ignore it or ask for more details please.
Not very long ago Orca gained ability to announce block quote and lists nesting levels when reading documents in browse mode such as web pages or emails. I got confused this morning by reading chain of quoted email messages and I tried to prepare a simple test case below this message. I have sent 5 messages to my self with typing my replies at the top of the previous message. After writing these 5 messages I have started one more reply and I am sending this reply to orca list. So this message you are reading is not quoted, my 5th message is first quoted message, orca correctly announces it as block quote however it does not announce the block quote nesting level. Then if you continue reading my 4th message orca reports it as block quote however it is still not reporting the nesting level. If you continue downwards to my 3rd message in this 5 messages long test case it will announce both block quote and the nesting level. However the nesting level that's reported is nesting level 1. I am not sure if this is the orca issue, underlying API or gecko issue but I think the nesting level reporting is shifted by one position in this case. I would expect to hear my 5th message as block quote with no nesting level as the corresponding block quote is not nested. I would then expect to hear my 4th message as blockquote nesting level 1 as the 4th message blockquote is the first one nested in a message 5 block quote.
Finally when moving down to my first message by repeatedly pressing down arrow key and then moving to the top by pressing ctrl+home to jump to the text which is not quoted orca is currently reporting two leaving block quote events. Leaving 4 blockquotes and then leaving blockquote. Is it a good idea to merge it all into single report saying leaving 5 block quotes?
You know this is all very confusing because when we are counting first block quote as no nesting level it is already shifted by one when you compare it with reverse numbering. However as currently implemented by orca it is shifted even further.
Do you think this might be applicable to other roles such as tables and lists found on the web?
