For a better experience, you may wish to try Seamonkey. Some things have been changed in Orca to fix some problems in both Seamonkey and Thundebird, and Seamonkey from my experience is a bit faster, as it doesn't do so much disk i/o, because it doesn't ignore the checkbox that doesn't store messages on your computer when turned off.
