[orca-list] Temporarily turning caret-browsing off?

Hi.

The goal: I want to have key presses like left/right arrow passed
through to a web application (in my particular case, SoundCloud).

In JAWS, I'd use JAWS+y to turn the virtual cursor off temporarily.

In FireFox with Orca, I was guessing I should use F7 to toggle caret
browsing off.  The first problem I have with that is the dialog that
pops up, which is an unnecessary disturbance.  However, to my dismay,
after supposedly having turned off caret browsing, the arrow keys still move
the caret.

Am I missing something?  Is there perhaps a proper Orca way to do this?
