[orca-list] gnome-terminal not speaking

I have a problem and I am not sure how to fix it.
Recently I updated my archlinux system.
I do this about once a week and I have had no problems until now.
When I launch gnome-terminal I hear nothing from orca.
If I switch to a console window, I see it is running, but I get no 
speech.
I installed tilda and it works so I think it is something in 
gnome-terminal itself.
Any ideas?
