This is the exact thing I would get with a couple spreadsheets around
here but they are not huge. I would just wish for greater stability in
the Libreoffice suite.

Hello,
I am sorry it appears I need to clear a few things regarding my observation and handling this huge file.
- Libre office does not seg fault with core dumped message here. It freezes hard enough that it shows
libreoffice has stopped responding do you want to force close it?
And it won't recover so the only way to continue is to force close it.
- It won't freeze for me all the time but playing with this document multiple times I think you can get it
to freeze like this.
- After an indication from Chrys that this is also happening when orca is not used I am afraid this might
be general libreoffice thing.
Do you know what and how to capture it in this kind of situation to be able to submit to libreoffice people?

hello,
I've open your file Peter on a Fedora installation.
I'm able to navigate the file. When I get to sheet IP LO does speed up my fan on my processor and the
system hangs a bit, but I'm still able to use the arrows to
navigate the spread sheet. I'd have to compare perhaps on an arch machine which I can probably do later.
Lo is a bit slower when I view sheet IP. When I move to the first sheet with control-page-up Lo is faster
and is more responsive with Orca when using the arrows to
navigate the table.

Hey Chrys,
I do understand that file is very huge and it may be slow to handle even when orca is not running and you
are looking at the screen reading what you can your-self
withouth a screen reader.
Still I would be interested to know if you can make Libre office to freeze when scrolling over that file
or otherwise manipulating the data.
I think Libre office Calc is suitable app to use when reading, sorting, filtering, running various stats
and otherwise manipulating tabular data. It should be
somewhat lighter than the large database engines e.g. MySQL or Postgresql.
So if dealing with such huge file is confortable for sighted people we would be happy to get as close as
possible while handling it and relying on assistive
technologies at the same time.
When opening such a document we only need single file. If we were about to save it into different output
format be it plain text (CSV), multiple HTML files it only
adds more and more complexity.
Please note I don't want to sound too demanding I am just trying to point out how this is working here.
And I am sure I'm not alone thinking an improvement in this
regard would be welcome.
I know there are several clever developers working on Libreoffice accessibility so I'm sure we are slowly
getting there.

Howdy,
this excel file is also very slow to me without orca.
if i save it as ods its about 15 MB. I m shure that in 236 kb is not any picutrue included.
15 MB is not the biggest file, but embedding so much pictures isnt the best idea at all....
You could try to save it to HTML (take care.. do it in a seperate folder because it creates one file per
image). Maybe its more easy to navigate via the browser
to you? or save the current sheet as CSV if you dont need the pictures...

hi
I've just downloaded this spreadsheet. It's quite large for a spreadsheet. I have managed to freeze LO
once, by following your instructions. I also tried
converting it to an ODF spreadsheet, and it seemed to work, going from 8 mb to 236 kb, but I'm not sure
it saved all the images. I quickly deleted the odf
version and was playing with the xlsx file.

Hello,
I am afraid when accessibility is being used Libre office Calc tends to freeze randomly, however I
can't give precise steps to reproduce.
Closest I can get to provide steps to follow is having a play with the following huge document:
http://files.pvagner.tk/145018538481.xlsx
It's a huge file, unfortunatelly it's not in english. That is a price list including product pictures
their descriptions and different grade prices.
I can make Libreoffice Calc to freeze by going to the sheet named IP by repeatedly pressing ctrl+page
down. Then when this sheet is displayed then sometimes
Libreoffice Calc freezes right when pressing ctrl+home to jump to the top of that sheet.
Sometimes pressing ctrl+home goes to the cell addressed A1. If that works out. Then I can move down to
A5 by repeatedly pressing down arrow key.
Then moving over the cells B5, C5, D5, E5, E6, D6, C6, B6, A6, A7, B7, C7.... and so forth eventually
makes Calc to freeze. So you are moving left to right in
the current line, then go down a line, move right to left, move down another line and repeat until you
can see Calc freezing.
I think it has something to do with images being displayed in there but this is only my wild guess and
I can't prove it.
If you are brave enough to try duplicating this, then I think you can reproduce this.

hi
Could you send me some nonsensitive spreadsheets to test with? Just one will do. I'm trying to get a
handle on exactly what's going wrong, and I don't have
any spreadsheets to work with. I don't think gnome has much to do with lo. That said, if there are
problems, this needs to be reported to this list so
joanie can take a look. I'll take care of that you don't need to if you don't want to. If libreoffice
calc isn't working like it should it needs to be
fixed. As for the a11y fixes, I'm not completely sure. I do remember quite a few were worked around
in orca back before 3.18 was released, and there were a
couple of writer fixes. I don't have specifics off the top of my head but I can probably find
something. If all your spreadsheets are sensitive some sample
spreadsheets would do on the web, if I can find any. I need a fairly complex one, though it obviously
can't have ms macros since libreoffice apparently
throws a fit with those.

OK, I upgraded to libreoffice-fresh (current version 5.0.4-3 on
Arch). I still seem to have trouble with a couple spreadsheets; this
might be a problem with the sheets which means it will be a bitch to
figure out. I might have to export the thing and re-create the
thing. I have some formulas and stuff in it so we'll have to see. I am
able to load a couple *.xls spreadsheets without problems so far.
I am curious though; if there are supposed a11y fixes, I wonder what
they actually are. I still don't get any announcements when I shift
arrows to select cells. In fact, it appears that shift arrows don't
even move the focus from the original cell. Does Calc no longer select
cells with shifted arrow keys?
Just trying to restore my faith in gnome here.:)

hi
Before taking that drastic a step, try upgrading to libreoffice-fresh. It's at version 5.3, and has
lots, and I do mean lots, of accessibility and
stability fixes. At
least try that. If that fails, it could be your spreadsheets although that's not likely.

I've been having problems lately with Libreoffice calc locking up on
me almost every other time I try to open a spreadsheet. I am using
libreoffice-still-4.4.3 (latest from Arch repos. When the file is
opened, the program hangs and eventually, a message pops up that
soffice has stopped responding. Like, did gnome degrade to that of
Microsoft Window? Really, I may have to migrate all my spreadsheet
activities over to the Mac; at least Numbers works all the time for
me.
I don't have any other debug info available so this may be hard to
track down. In any case, is the "Unstable" versions of Libreoffice
better than this? As far as I'm concerned, I cannot any longer use
Calc for anything useful on my system.
Any ideas?
