I have  a different issue with gedit. It works fine for a while and then for no apparent reason goes totally  
silent. 
If this was a reported/fixed issue then sorry for the noise. I am running last build of orca 3.10 on most 
systems as I prefer the interface, and  or it 
is the default  on the distro. Restarting orca does no good, only saving, closing and reopening gedit brings 
speech back. 
This usually does not happen for several minutes at least, and may not occur at all before  a file is closed, 
but ifs very frequent/seems to happen with 
most txt files I have open  for more than a few minutes.
