I've been playing with the cinnamon desktop from linux mint and I'm
completely impressed. It takes what gnome has done right and makes it
even better. To avoid sounding like a sales pitch, I'll mention some
of the issues it still has with orca, so they can be fixed. The alt
tab switcher doesn't read. This might need a simple mapping to
gnome-shell, not sure. The cinnamon menu doesn't read. It will
announce the item count, but can't get at the items. Contrary to
everything I've heard about linux mint, they do in fact support
accessibility. There's an accessibility section in their control panel
and it seems to work as advertised, although I'm still not done
playing with the settings. Orca says "not selected" after items in the
control panel, desktop and in the file manager, but all those do read
just fine. Joanie, I know you're busy, but would you mind taking a
look at cinnamon when you get a chance? Maybe download a linux mint
and look at it in accerciser? When you get a chance, this is not at
all vital, just when you have some time. I'm going to also get in
touch with the mint people to see if they can improve accessibility on
their end. If all goes well, I'm going to add a cinnamon edition of
sonar, once I run it by my co developers.
