better run in a console with speakup, but tintin++ works well with orca in a terminal as far as I can tell 
from quick tests and listing to oter ppl's 
reports.
Sclient, and ggmud are a couple gtk2 using apps  that sound like they are worth checking out, but honestly 
since I started out with tintin++ and it's 
always working so well, I have never tried anthing else.
