Hello,
If you are asking about desktop layout, access to notification area, top 
pannel, the dash and all the related things then you are most likelly 
comparing Unity, Ubuntu's default desktop to other desktops e.g. GNOME 
or Mate you might have tried while installing debian.
Unity is ubuntu specific graphical interface. It's reported to be verry 
accessible.
