I haven't seen this problem exactly, but I'm still running 3.14. The
problem I see is slightly different. In my case, vlc, mplayer and LiVES,
when run from within a terminal, sometimes cause similar behavior in the
currently open terminal, which forces me to close that terminal, as
there seems to be no way to get speech back. At this point, these appear
to be the only applications that have given me trouble, possibly due to
video playback, but it happens randomly, with no predictable pattern.
