Hi Luis,
I did apt-get install gnome-orca
and it seemed to update, but so far, it hasn't helped.
Logging out and back via restarting gdm.
I wonder if it will only work on a restart of the live session.
I'm having trouble getting this to restart on the USB stick, as it keeps 
booting to the XP on the HD.
So when I can get it booted again, I'll know.

I don't think the problem is caused by you're running a live session,
it's more likely your Orca or Speech Dispatcher's versions.

Ubuntu 10.04 comes with Orca 2.30, so if you haven't upgraded it,
you've got that version
