Hello,
ESpeak Audio output requirements have not changed for quite noticeable
time I guess at least two years.
So if corresponding portaudio headers are in place you can compile
eSpeak from source using standard ./configure && make && make install
procedure or if you are better at packaging than me then you should also
be able to update debian package to build current stable version of
eSpeak or any other version.
Greetings
Peter

Dear,
Does somebody of You know, if it is possible to use newest Espeak from
sourceforge.net with Debian Squeeze and Orca? I AM using Gnomespeech
services and Alsa is being used by Debian Squeeze and The only one
Pulseaudio component is libpulseaudio, Pulseaudio is fortunately not
presented in Debian Squeeze, other Pulseaudio related component would
be enforced by The speech dispatcher installation.
Or Would i have to use portaudio.h from Espeak version, which is being
used by Debian Squezee, so i would have to compile newest Espeak from
source and include old portaudio.h before compilation of this engine
to The right subfolder?
And why i AM using Debian Squeeze?
Because i can not set Czech keyboard layout in ADRIANE Knoppix in X
environment while using LXDE. Czech characters are not being correctly
pronounced by Espeak and i do not know some Debian expert, who would
finally give me a piece of advice how to force this distribution to
support Czech characters while running LXDE applications.
And because Gnome 3 and newer is allocating much more RAm than Debian
Squeeze and old Gnome version, and because i must use Windows as my
primary OS and Linux as a virtual computer, and because i do not have
enough money so i would be able to buy buy 8 GB RAM, i must use older
Gnome platform.
Thank You very much for Yours answers.
