I'm not sure whether Debian includes the Adobe flash plugin; it might
use gnash instead, in which case, you'll have a hard time with that. I
view youtube, and some other video content without any flash plugin;
there are many ways to do this. see the link below, for some ideas. My
solutions are:
1) extend the browser with the youtube-all-html5 extension;
2) for cases in which this doesn't work, use the browser extension
called unplug, and an external agent like vlc;
3) a greasemonkey script called viewtube or another called
linternamagica.
