Re: [orca-list] what is mate desktop

Mate is a desktop that is a fork of Gnome before the new interface was implemented. It is for people who
liked the way Gnome used to operate before gnome-shell was designed and implemented. Arguably, gnome is
currently more accessible but Mate has made great progress once it was discovered that renaming a few things
made things work much better than before. Yes, this is vague. If you would like more specific information,
you can search the Orca mailing list archives at live.gnome.org.

Thanks.
