hi It *does* speak desktop notifications, but some notification daemons are weird. Mate-notification-daemon, for example, does not speak. Notify-osd does though, so it's what I use here. On Thu, Aug 07, 2014 at 03:27:37PM -0400, Joanmarie Diggs wrote:
Hi Manuel. Because Orca is a screen reader, it is not meant for you to send Orca messages to speak regardless of what version of Python you are using. If what you really want to accomplish is speech output, you could send messages to speech dispatcher to be spoken. If instead you want to notify any user of your client of something (like a new DM), then your client could emit desktop-environment notifications. Sighted users would see them and Orca should present it because it presents desktop notifications. Hope this helps. --joanie On 08/07/2014 02:27 PM, Manuel wrote:Hi folks, I'm developing a Twitter Client and I want add compatibility with Linux and Mac systems. The client is created using Python 2.7 and WXPython3.0. Now I'm testing on Linux using Sonar 2014.1. There are a module that provides voice output using the current screen reader, that module works under Windows and Mac, but I don't know how to send messages to orca, because I'm using Python2 and Orca is built in Python3. Someone knows if is possible send messages to orca from Python2? Greetings.
