Hello,
According to a single post in the following thread arch developers are
still working on it and gnome unstable is not yet useable.
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1250615
So we should get a bit more patience I guess.
Greetings
Peter

I'm sorry to have to report that gnome 3.8 from the Arch gnome-unstable

dropped assertion errors in my logs.

I was forced to remove all gnome and related packages from my system and
reinstall gnome and gnome-extra from the official repos. I will probably
try again once 3.8 reaches testing in about a week, but I'm not holding
out any hope for the next day or so in gnome-unstable. Also, it seems
that Evolution, Epiphany and Empathy are now going to be a part of the
gnome group rather than gnome-extra, so I can only hope that they can
still be removed or skipped prior to installation without breaking the
system.
