I'm sure ou can use LO, Firefox, and other popular titles with XFCE and LXDE. There's a version of Sonar with LXDE. The panel is inaccessible, but the menus and configurators seem to work with orca. I know you're not a Ubuntu user, but Jonathan's Sonar LXDE can show you how it's done. I think it's a matter of setting a couple of environment variables and/or configuration switches to get LXDE talking?
