Re: [orca-list] help with fedora 19 speech at login window

Well, yes. But, you can also force speech to start before you log anyone
in. Simply go to a console and do 'killall speech-dispatcher', then come
back to the GUI and up and down arrow a few times. Speech will respawn,
in my experience.

PS: I believe that GDM should kill its speech-dispatcher instance before
handing off to Orca. They don't appear to use the same process. And, if
the GDM pid is not killed, any restart will not speak unless one first
kills that pid by hand.

So, if we want to use Fedora with orca, it's best to either log in
the default user automatically or have a non-talking gdm greeter
session? For single-user cases, I suppose this is an acceptable
temporary solution.

Cheers,

Dave
