We were warned at sign up that this would happen, but I too am in favor of substituting a reset link.
Sent from my iPhone I received a similar message. I, too, do not like the fact that the password is shown. At the very least, you should have a link that would allow you to reset your password. Or something of that type. This is quite a security gap. I sincerely hope that people are not using the password for this list that they would use for something else.

Hello Orca list,
this is a warning. I just received this reminder message because I
recently posted to the orca-list.
Without my knowledge, I have been subscribed to the gnome.org
mailing list and it displays my Email list, the orca-list and the
password used.
Just posting to the orca-list has resulted in my password being
made public.
It seems that the gnome.org server does not encrypt passwords. Has
this happened to others?
The original message is below and I have replaced my password with
'xxxxxxxx'.
Peter

This is a reminder, sent out once a month, about your gnome.org
mailing list memberships. It includes your subscription info and how
to use it to change it or unsubscribe from a list.
You can visit the URLs to change your membership status or
configuration, including unsubscribing, setting digest-style delivery
or disabling delivery altogether (e.g., for a vacation), and so on.
In addition to the URL interfaces, you can also use email to make such
changes. For more info, send a message to the '-request' address of
the list (for example, mailman-request gnome org) containing just the
word 'help' in the message body, and an email message will be sent to
you with instructions.
If you have questions, problems, comments, etc, send them to
mailman-owner gnome org. Thanks!
