Hi Glenn:
Well, you have two problems. The first is not all USB to serial
adapters will work with your Doubletalk. I tried this option with a
number of hardware synths and discovered that some USB to serial
adapters work, and others don't for some reason.
The other is that Orca and Speech Dispatcher does not support hardware
synths. You can try your Doubletalk with Speakup or with Emacspeak on
Linux, both support Doubletalks, but not Orca.
Cheers!

Hi,
I have a Double-Talk serial synth, and I was wondering if anyone has ever
tried a serial to USB adapter and gotten it to work with Orca.
I have a USB adapter, I haven't tried it yet to see if Linux will recognize
the adapter.
Furthermore, I know that with JFW, when I select DoubleTalk, it only allows
a serial connection, so I tried the TripleTalk option, and that did not
work.
Just wondering if anyone else has gone down this path.
Glenn
