If you like the shell prompt as I do, twidge and ttytter are both good
options.
I use Emacs extensively, and twittering.el appears to be an excellent option
in that environment. However, I don't use Twitter - I use Identica
(identi.ca), and therefore I run identica-mode in Emacs.
Pidgin at least used to have a good reputation for accessibility, but I
haven't tried it for a long time as I mostly work from Emacs and the console
rather than from a graphical desktop.
