Re: [orca-list] Orca on my OLPC

Have you tested festival without orca?
try:
echo "Would you like to play a game?" | festival --tts

http://www.ghacks.net/2010/10/09/linux-text-to-speech-with-festival/

Does it work?

It probably won't work.  The OLPC is very slow and festival is very resource intensive.  If festival doesn't work, then try espeak instead.  I know that espeak works on the OLPC as I have used it on the OLPC myself.

I'm surprised that festival is installed at all.  Jonnie, is festival the default for fedora?  If so, this is probably wrong.

PÅedmÄt: [orca-list] Orca on my OLPC

Hi, I have on OLPC with Orca installed.
But when i run Orca on Gnome, it runs very well (no error messages),
but i hear nothing.
I'm sure the sound works (videos and music prove me).
I don't if it's the system of voice, but orca writes me that I have
the gnome service voice and the festival gnome speech driver installed.
I'm on fedora 11.

Thanks in Advance.
Pascal Diogo Antunes.
