Re: [orca-list] Announcing Orca v3.4.2

Hi Robert,

No, that's incorrect. Anaconda is the installer that Fedora uses to install the operating system. The First Boot Wizard is a program called First Boot. Its a totally separate application from Anaconda.

Cheers!

Yes, I am pretty sure that this is what the Anaconda scripts are referring to. When you install Fedora from a live medium you have to reboot the system after installation. When the system boots up, you are presented with some screens which deal with configuration and other things. This is called the FirstBoot wizard. I believe that the underlying technology upon which this wizard is built is referred to as Anaconda.

If I am mistaken on any of this, I will gladly receive any correction.

I am really excited to try and fully install Fedora using Orca someday in the future. I had it running on my system before Ubuntu 12.04 was released, but I had to break my neck to install it. I have a small amount of visin, and so I used the camera on my cell hone to zoom in on the screen to get through the wizard. There is another way to bypass thsi wizard using a file called a "kickstart" file which basically contains all fo the answers to the questions which the wizard asks, but I am unsure as to how to set this up right now.

All I can say is that Fedora ran VERY FAST on my system as compared to other distros. Ubuntu 12.04 has actually gotten a lot faster on this machine as well compared to Ubuntu 11.10.

I know it has been reiterated many times before, but I want to thank Joanie and all of the other developers (Alejandro Piñeiro, Joseph Scheuhammer, and the many others behind numerous features and distros) for all that you have done and are doing to make things accessible to us.

All the best.

Take care.
