Why is that, and how can you get to work?
GNOME upstream decided to integrate the magnifier into GNOME shell. Ubuntu as of 11.10 uses unity by default,
which uses COmpiz. Compiz does have a magnification plugin, however there some bugs with this plugin and
working with Unity. Your best bet is to get GNOME shell installed, and enable magnification for use in GNOME
shell. An announcement will be made when there is a suitable magnification solution for users who wish to use
magnification and Unity in Ubuntu.
