Re: [orca-list] Wine apps in Orca?

Hi,

Sorry, but no. There currently isn't any accessible way to use Windows
apps under Wine. There are a number of technical reasons why it isn't
possible, but the short answer is there just isn't any way for Wine to
expose buttons, menus, edit boxes, and all the rest of the standard
Windows GUI controls to at-spi so Orca can see them. Windows screen
readers won't work because many of the libraries and dependencies they
use aren't available for Wine.
At least not without a lot of trouble.

If you absolutely have to use Windows applications the best solution
is to install VMWare Player or Virtualbox and install Windows into a
virtual drive. Then, you can run Windows games and apps side by side
with Linux and don't have all the accessibility issues associated with
emulating them through Wine.
