I wish to know how I can get speakup running on Ubuntu 12.04.
I think there must be so seperate instructions for kernel 3.0x?

Maybe, but I wouldn't recommend it. Emacspeak is far superior for that
purpose if you want speech output, and BRLTTY at the console is better than
BRLTTY with Orca in Gnome-terminal.
If you want speech for Mutt, Emacs, etc., Speakup is better than Orca and
Gnome-Terminal.
