Hi,

i have installed Ubuntu 11.10 beta 2, 64 bit version yesterday and
with unity 2d it works quite well, even QT applications - i have

and it seems to be not accessible at all.
Skype does not provide a 64 bit Version, you always need 32 bit libs to
run Skype on a 64 bit system, although 32 bit applications are not
accessible on 64 bit distros. It would be Skype's job to provide a
native 64 bit Skype version.
That's just one more reason why binary-only applications suck and should
be avoided whenever possible. You may however use Skype together with
Pidgin and the Skype4Pidgin plugin.
cheers
