[orca-list] thunderbird - choosing an application?

Hello,
When I attempt to open a link in thunderbird, a dialog box pops up to
choose an application.
I can get to the /usr/bin folder, but no further.
The workaround is the copy the link and paste it into firefox.
Anyone have ideas on how to assign an app so the links will be opened
automatically?
