Re: [orca-list] Distros that work well with orca apart from Ubuntu?

Hi,

I am using Arch Linux for about 9 months now...with Gnome3.x in fallback
mode. Apart from known bugs (discussed at this list within the last
weeks) it works quite well.
Generally, I think that it is hard (or even impossible) to say that a
certain distro is accessible or not, as the same basic components are
used in all distros (brltty for basic access to the console, Gnome with
orca...). There might be differences in installing the system and
getting everything set up. There are e.g. distros bringing at least
basic components for accessibility like brltty with the installer medium
(Debian, Ubuntu...), others don't and you have to set them up manually
"blind" or with sighted help. And of course, the installers
themselves, tools for package management etc.
are different and more or less accessible. What do you expect from the
distro...and what do you expect to be different or better in
comparison to Ubuntu?

Cheers and happy (rest-)-Christmas,
Jakob
