I run Ubuntu Lucid and Orca 2.99.1 pre.
I use to run update-manager System > Administration for a kernel
update. Today trying to update to kernel 2.6.32-25 my screen freezes
and the only thing I know to do is to kill the x server with
alt+ctrl+backspace.
I never upgrade my system with an X session running; I always exit every
application (including console and X applications) and then run
sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude dist-upgrade
from the console. I think it's safer that way (there's less that can go
wrong
during and as a result of the upgrade).
