Hi mattias,
Vinux is both, you can use it as a live cd to make sure that it
recognizes your hardware. You can also install it to your hard drive.
I run it here on a 64 bit system with Voxin. Voxin isn't free, but $6
give or take is way the hell less expensive than Jaws.
