[orca-list] Fwd: Re: acroread plugins on ubuntu 10.04

Well, with a few pdf documents I have backed up I've made some tests,

and found that evince does a great job. I've tested two or three
documents and with evince I was able to select text from these documents
and transfer to gedit for reading and, for storing as text in case I get
interested in the content. I'd be happier if there's a plugin for
OpenOffice Writter to interpret correctly such documents, the same way
you are able to export documents to PDF in writter.

Actually I would prefer to use evince to view documents but since Orca
can't access text from PDFs with evince, nevermind.

Regards,

Edu.

I don't remember how I got it installed (I may have used sighted
assistance) but even if you get it installed the only thing you can
acces is teh menus. I use it to translate pdf files to text on some
documents because it handles things written in magazine style (two ro
three columns of text) slightly better than most other things I have
tried. Other than that don't bother with it unless you want it for a
 sighted person.

Still using Orca 2.30.2. That was what happened unfortunately. The
first screen that appeared when using acroread was the license
agreement, which Orca said that was inaccessible.

I'll be glad to find out what's wrong.

 Thanks for the input.

What version of Orca? I just did it yesterday with no problem. It
 should be accessible.

Well, I couldn't find the acroread-plugins on my Ubuntu. And talking
about acroread, how can you use it with Orca? Once I found the license
agreement was inaccessible with it I just gave up.

 Thanks.

What is the acroread plugins package called on Ubuntu 10.04? I could
have sworn it was something like:

 acroread-plugin or acroread-plugins

 Thanks for the help.
