I heard a a demo of the Motrola Droid the other day and man, I did not
like the voice at all. I would probably never use the thing
personally. But it is all about choice and I would think OpenTTS or
speech-dispatcher would be the likely place to integrate support for
it.

I found the pico2wave executable. It segfaults. I don't mind taking
a quick peek to see why it's crashing, in case it's easy. Does anyone
know how to talk to the developers?
No, regrettably not.
Do you have the source code?
git://android.kernel.org/platform/external/svox.git
The author of the proposed Debian package may have made changes, but the above
is where you will find the original sources, most importantly in pico/lib
which is the starting point for any integration with speech frameworks.
