[orca-list] Development of Speech-Dispatcher Project

Hi
This is just a question I have.
Is Speech-Dispatcher, still in fact, being developed? Or, has this project
died out?
I ask this because I know that Gnome3 will be utilizing (might be already
using) it.
I remember ages ago having problems with speech-Dispatcher while using any
SMP enabled machine.
I haven't used Linux for quite sometime now due to those perhaps now erased
issues?
Has anyone recently developing the Gnome project had any sudden crashes
specifically with duel-core or quad-core machines?
Processors can either be those of the Intel-core duel line or AMD.It doesn't
matter if 32-bit or 64-bit is being used, although I would personally like
to know if Gnome itself as the stable version presently stands, is backwards
compatible between 32-bit Linux or 64-bit?
On another side note, does anyone know for sure that Orical will not
terminate the Gnome/Orca project, and if that does happen, what will that
mean for any users who refuse to use the command line whatsoever?
Not all users beginning Linux will wish to use Speakup or other open-source
screen-access solutions, and I for one, have come to love Gnome out of all
open-source GUI desktops as a personal favorite.
The only problem I have had in the passed with Speech-dispatcher is or was,
at least and am no longer sure if the crashing on SMP still happens or not,
due to not using Linux for a long time, and this remains a concern, mainly
because I know that Gnome3 will be moving from Gnome Speech to this at some
point.
Or has it already done so?
What efforts are being done to insure that Speech-Dispatcher works acrossed
both single-core machines and those with more than one core?
Hopefully, especially with the news about Open Solaris, Gnome does not
suddenly follow a sudden fate similar to Lukes posting.
I realize this is not specifically Orca-related, but because Orca is part of
Gnome and in future development if it is still being worked on will be used,
I figured I'd ask here as any other list.
Thanks for answering any of my questions to the best of anyones ability.
Regards, --Keith

P.S.
Although I cannot actively partisipate in the development process as C
programmming is beyond my skills at this point and time is not on my side,
however, I can however test out any Speech-dispatcher enabled Gnome 3 CDs to
report upon if dispatcher works or not on my intel 2 core duel machine if
this would help Gnome's future development, as I realize that sometimes loss
of speech may be machine specific.
Thanks!
