Yep, I did it. My gdm login screen talks now. See my earlier message
detailing the steps I did. However, I still had one more problem to
figure out. I have since determined it wasn't starting the
at-spi-registryd and discovered that the .desktop file in
/usr/share/gdm was expecting the at-spi... to be in /usr/libexec and
on my arch system, it is found in /usr/lib/at-spi-registryd. So what
I did for now was to create a symbolic link in /usr/libexec to point
to the real file and I now have Orca running in the gdm session.
Pretty cool I say.
This does bring me to some questions though.
1. What is Orca using for a configuration under gdm?
2. In my case, it found Cepstral which I did previously install on my
system. What made it go there? I would like to set up a generic config
for the Arch orca package to use espeak or something always available.
I will pull together the steps I took today and put them in the wiki
under the accessible login. At least these steps worked for me.
