Two hours seems kind of long but if it is full of valuable information,
then it may be worth it all.
I still feel that it seems like extra complexity to jump through a
different distro first to get Arch installed. I did OK with the talking
boot image Chris built but I realize the issue concerning 64bit
architexture. I never tried 64 bit here to know if that would work or
not. my processer type says AMD 64 but I've never been sure about the
rest of or the memory installed. Not sure how to tell for sure what I
really have here. I've been using 32 bit with my two GB without any
harm and I also realize than anything less than 4 gig mitht as well be
32 bit anyway.

Hello,
Some good news, I have just finished recording my audio walkthrough
for installing archlinux with speech output. I just need to do the
final preparation before posting them online. However I have a couple
of questions:
I initially did installing using the GRML live CD (yes its possible to
install arch this way), but my heart sank a bit to see total recording
time was close on two hours. Thinking the speakup modified install CD
mentioned on the arch wiki would guide users a bit more and may be
help me trim the time I decided to record installing using that, still
longer than I had hoped, one and a half hours.
How do these times sound to people out there who may be interested?
Which of these would be more valued? NOTE: Using the GRML live CD is
certainly not supported by archlinux officially, but it has the
advantage of 64bit (I haven't tested this but have no reason to
believe it will fail), brltty support and having many tools to hand. I
know the two first reasons may be going to be solved, but I think
Chris is holding back on the X86_64 install CD as he feels its testing
standard at the moment.
I may be able to get the time down a little with some editing, but I
don't know how much this will reduce it by. Do these seem too long to
people?
I will try and get the final preparation done as quick as possible.
Also I do intend to do an installing gnome audio walkthrough (sorry to
those asking for XFCE or LXDE, at the moment I think gnome would be
the simpler to cover and for other desktops I would put it at
"intermediate/advanced level", there is too much which might go wrong
for these lighter weight desktops). The gnome audio walkthrough should
be possible very soon as its a bank holiday here in the UK, so plenty
of time.
