Hi List,
Well, I visited the Orca page. I've been
reading the docs and memorizing keystrokes. Funny how much you can learn
by doing that. In any case, there are a few things I don't
understand.
1. Using a desktop keyboard configuration,
you are supposed to be able to enter the Flat Review mode by pressing numpad -
(minus). When I do this, I get no indication whether I am in or out of the
mode. Is there something I can configure to give me some
feedback--something like Orca saying 'entering review mode' and then pressing
again 'exiting review mode.'?
2. By reading the documents, am I to
understand that this Flat Review Mode is interactive? By this I mean can
you move to an area and click on it with the mouse key (numpad slash) while in
Flat Review Mode?
3. Maybe someone could give me a brief
summary of just how this works: for example since I have been a long time
Windows user, is it equivalent to the JAWS cursor? Explain differences in
functionality if possible.
I have also read about the bookmarks feature (alt +
Insert + B and so on.)
1. Am I to understand that these can be set
up on various applications and saved to the Orca configuration files--and that
they are application specific?
2. Would these bookmarks be similar to for
example, the bookmarks that JAWS allows you to set on web pages in Internet
Explorer and Firefox?
3. There are also references to hotspots or
maybe it's hot zones (I've been reading all day and I'm a bit tired so I forget
the exact terminology, but I believe there were references to zones.) I am
afraid that I really am not quite sure what these are. My guess is that
they are parts of web pages that change and that these zones can be monitored by
Orca for changes. Is this correct? Again a brief summary of just how
this work might help me a great deal.
I know these are a lot of very basic questions, but
at least they are on topic <g>.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
