Re: [orca-list] Orca problem in combo boxes.

Hi:

As a workaround, you can try pressing Alt+Down or Alt+Up to open the
combobox. This seems to wake things up a little bit.

Hi Balaram:

There are many different variables involved here: the os distribution,
GNOME, the application/toolkit, etc. In the case of web pages, there's
also the content provider. Unfortunately, your main interface is Orca,
so it can appear as though all problems you run into are issues with
Orca itself.

I just tested the gmail new accounts page with Orca, and it appears to
me as though either Firefox or the gmail accounts page are the source of
the problem: no AT-SPI events are issued when I arrow up/down the combo
boxes on that page. Through some magic twist of fate, which I'm not
able to reproduce, I eventually got the combo box to emit events, but
I'm not sure how I did it.

In any case, I've logged a bug against Mozilla:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=504561

We're tracking it in the Orca bug database here:

Hi list,
This time it's about Orca not been able to read anything in combo boxes
in web pages.
When I tried to create an account in Gmail, I had to be really
disappointed with orca not being able to read anything in the question
selection combo box.
This is in Ubuntu 9.04 with orca 2.26.
This was not so with ubuntu 8.10.
Why these heart breaking insidents occures with
upgradation of Ubuntu and Orca?
Is there any work around for this problem?
Your suggestions are much appreciated.

P. Balaraman.
