Hi,
To install a Java runtime environment on Ubuntu 8.10 you can run:
sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre
If you need the full JDK you can do:
sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jdk
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Mitch

Subject: [orca-list] Ubuntu and Java
Hi folks,
Does Linux come with a Java Runtime Environment installed or would I need
to install it? Also, I seem to remember reading that someone using Fedora
had problems using Open office on Fedora. According to the Open Office
site, Fedora has disabled parts of Open office which require Java - don't
know if this has been changed.
Thank you
Take care
james
