I'm using Debian Lenny (testing) here and to get the latest version of
Orca, I went ahead and installed appropriate packages so Orca is
running. But for me that showed up as something from May of this
year. So I then went into svn and checked out new versions of Orca,
atk, at-spi, and gail. Basically, this is the recommended process for
getting latest version of Orca for any distro. I then compiled these
into /usr/bin so the newly compiled binaries overlaid the older debian
ones. I would imagine that a package upgrade or re-install of
existing package would overlay these again. So I keep the svn
versions around and if such a package overlay happens, then just do
another make install and the svn versions would take precedence again.
For at-spi, I do a
'./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr --libexecdir=/usr/lib/at-spi'
The others are merely './autogen.sh --prefix=/usr'
I'm not sure the status of unstable yet. I'm new to Debian and want
to wait a short bit before I go up to Unstable.

hello,
does anyone know how I can install the latest orca using Debian lenny and Gnome2.22.3? Unless... i should
install a different distro. I don't think i have to though.
