Sorry for the multiple posting,
the non-functioning sayAll is due to something else, namely using speech
dispatcher as a backend, nothing to do with alsa/pulseaudio.

here are my steps:
1. aptitude remove pulseaudio
aptitude install esound
3. rm or remove file /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70pulseaudio
