Hi,
I did what you have said: in pronuntiation's tab of orca preferences I added
a new entry, which original string is vi and replaced string is vee eye. And
it works well.
But I think it's impraticable to add entries for all roman numbers. I think
if we want, we have to be able to disable this espeak's dictionary.
I think espeak's dictionary is important when we don't have this capability
on a screen reader or if we use espeak in a context where we don't need a
screen reader. In this case, there are two dictionaries working: espeak's
dictionary and orca's dictionary and they are fighting one against each
other.
Best regards
Sérgio Neves

Hi Sérgio,
I'd like to ask you one more thing, I think it's related to espeak's
dictionary.
For example: Sometimes, I don't want espeak to say the words "roman six"
when I write "vi". I prefer to control this pronunciation through a screen
reader like orca, where I can introduce the words I want.
Is it possible to disable some words on the dictionary, or disable this
dictionary completely, or what I'm saying doesn't make sense?
What happens if you setup something in Orca's pronunciation
dictionary to replace the string "vi" with something like "vee eye"?
You can add strings to the pronunciation dictionary via the
Pronunciation tab in Orca Preferences.
